by Nancy George, Office Coordinator
My name is Nancy George and I have had the extreme pleasure the past 18 months of being the office coordinator at Briggs’s Family Chiropractic. I have to admit though that I certainly never thought I would be able to say at the age of 68 that I had found my dream job, but that’s exactly how I feel and will quite often share that with our patients.
My passion for health, nutrition and wellness began well over 25 years ago when I was faced with some debilitating health issues of my own. Once I had a diagnosis I began reading, watching and listening to everything and anything I could get my hands on! I was desperate and determined to learn how I could improve my health naturally! So having this opportunity to learn from Dr. Briggs as well as possibly help our patients with the knowledge I had acquired over the years has been a true blessing!
I have to admit though that health wasn’t always my passion because many times I found myself struggling to even know where to start with setting weight loss, nutrition or even simple health goals! I would find it overwhelming! It was a challenge then and in today’s crazy stress filled world I still struggle when I stray from those habits!
Throughout my health journey it became apparent this was not just about what I weighed. My spiritual, mental, and social/well being has also played a huge part in achieving and maintaining my health goals.
Even though I know the definition of being healthy, many times my mind will go to that number on the scales especially in my younger years. At that point in my life I just wanted to be thin and look good! Now at the age of 68,
I take a whole different approach with my health, although I must confess I can still find myself wanting to compare my body to women 20 & 30 years younger! Why do we do that to ourselves? That’s a question for another blog! Lol
What I have learned along my journey it always comes down to getting myself in the right state of mind. For me personally that has to be first and foremost, then once I’ve tackled that part it’s easier for me to stay committed and remain consistent!
People have often asked me through the years what diet would I recommend or what has worked for me. I always tell them it has to be a “lifestyle” and not a diet! Diets are typically short lived. Finding what works best for you, your family and your lifestyle can take some time but will be well worth it.
I truly believe the greatest gift you can give your family and the world is a healthy you!
Thank you for allowing me to share a small part of my journey! I’m looking forward to sharing more in the future!
Here’s to your health!
Nancy
